Information
Issue at Hand: Andrea Sprik, the active, athletic mom, has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Age: 32
Story: Saturday morning, April 3 was a day that will change my life forever. On that morning I found a lump in my right breast. The feelings of "that could never happen to ME" were quickly diminishing. The next few weeks were filled with doctor's appointments, mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies, and a lot of waiting.
On April 23 Darwyn and I received the news that what we were hoping and praying was nothing, was cancer. The words sunk like a brick. I cannot describe the feelings that rushed through our heads for the next 24 hours. Our little Jenna (4) and Jake (6 months) were at the front of my mind. I think any mother would agree with me that it is a sinking feeling to think that you are not going to see your kids grow up. Our faith, friends and family are the number one thing that is keeping us strong right now. God is holding my hand every step of the way and I am feeling that more and more every day.
I am scheduled for surgery on May 20th. The weeks and months to follow are going be very difficult, but we know that our God, our friends, and our family will help us every step of the way. At this point I am pretty sure that I will be having a double mastectomy and reconstruction, followed possibly by chemo/radiation. We are setting up this site so that everyone can be updated on our progress and continue to pray for our needs.
Thank you everyone, Darwyn, Andrea, Jenna, and Jake
