"You never know what impact you may have on someones life by just reaching out to them." - Angi K.
With a smile on her face and ready to lend a helping hand, Angi believes it doesn't take a superhero to be a hero in the lives of others.
Angi has always truly loved to help people. She's a single mom who has been through some very painful and uncomfortable situations in her life. So when Angi sees others struggling, her natural insticts compel her to help.
That natural instict led her to help one person in particular whose life was in danger. A woman Angi had met through church was in a struggling relationship. The woman had no one to turn to for help and feared for her safety.
Through conversation with the woman, Angi noticed this woman was in desperate need of help. That's when Angi stepped in and recruited a few people to help organize an effort to rescue the woman from her threatening situation.
Angi's mission has always been to encourage people who just need a few kind words or to simply know someone cares. Everyone goes through times of troubles in their lives. And during those times, it's important to have someone to lean on. This journey is one that our everyday hero, Angi, who has provided that it doesn't take a superhero to be a hero in the lives of others.
"I've had 'heroes' in my life when I've been in situations that I just needed people to encourage me, keep me focused on what's important and just remind me that they care," says Angi. "If it's by showing them or telling them, people need to know how important they are and not to give up."
What Motivates Angi:
Helping people is Angi's biggest motivation. Having to endure painful life situations has given Angi motivation to help others when they struggle. The holidays are particularly a favorite time for Angi and her boys to appreciate the help others have given. Holidays are spent at the Union Gospel Mission in Sioux Falls and it's just one more way Angi returns the favor to others.
"Now I have the privilege to be the one to help this time," says Angi. "We will all go through times of trouble and we will need to lean on each other to get us through."
